Snap, Crackle and Verse

Knock, knock. Who's there? Rhyme. Rhyme who? Rhyme to get yourself to Snaps this November! Or should we say, Poe-vember?

WELCOME TO SNAP, CRACKLE, VERSE!

We're back for another night of poetry, spoken word and whatever else our poets decide to throw at the microphone.

There will be laughs, feelings, and a few questionable rhymes. That's just how we do things.

Whether you've been performing for years, you've never stepped up to a microphone before or you'd rather sit back with a drink and listen, you're welcome at Snaps. We've got words to share, rhymes to spare and absolutely no requirement to know your iambic pentameter.

There is parking on-site and the pub is an accessible venue that welcomes wheelchair users. The venue also caters for people with cognitive, learning and communication access needs, and welcomes people with allergies and intolerances.

Several bus stops nearby and within walking distance of the Newmarket train station.

We will be set-up downstairs, right amongst the brewing! You couldn't ask for a more immersive experience.

Got something to say? Don't keep it bottled up. Get it off your chest and onto the mic.

We'll have open mic spots available on the night. You don't need to be published, experienced or particularly confident. If you've got something you want to share, we'd love to hear it.

We welcome all kinds of poetry. Funny, sad, political, personal, weird, romantic, angry or something that doesn't fit neatly into any category. Free verse? Slam poetry? A poem that makes everyone question what they just heard? Bring it on. We're not here to rhyme-police you. Poetry covers? We accept those too!

Bring something you've been working on for months, something you wrote yesterday or those notes you've had sitting on your phone that you've been meaning to do something with. It all belongs here.

Not keen on performing? That's completely fine, too. Snaps is for our listeners just as much as our poets. Come along, grab a drink, settle in and enjoy the show. You never know what someone's going to say when they get their hands on a microphone.

We're here for the poets, the performers, the listeners and anyone who just really bloody loves words.

You don't need to be published, have years of experience or have your life together. You just need to show up as yourself. Whether you've been coming to poetry nights for years or this is your first one, there's a place for you here.

Snaps will make it all better. Well, we can't promise to fix everything, but a night of poetry and a few laughs certainly can't hurt.
