So-So Sewing: Rugged Heart Keyrings with Maddy
Event description
When life gives you a Melbourne Winter, choose a fun, cosy new hobby!
This is a unique sewing class for absolute beginners. We've chosen a big, bold heart to stitch and stuff, and the beauty is in its furry ruggedness.
Make some mistakes along the way? No fear! We've chosen tactile fabrics and fabulous colours so even if the stitches are so-so, your rugged heart will still look and feel great!
It's a low-stakes but high-reward project to start you on your sewing journey. Plus, you'll certainly be meeting some like minded folk in class.
What will we cover?
In this class we will learn to:
Use a template to guide a sewing creation
Work with unique fabrics - fluffy, stretchy, plasticky
Sew some basic stitches - running stitch and blanket stitch
Sew with thick, bold, colourful embroidery thread so we can see exactly what our stitches look like
Add some ribbon and keyring attachments

Who will be teaching?
Maddy (she/her) is a crafty hobbyist based in Narrm who has a big heart for colour, expression and over-the-top jewellery. She enjoys working with all sorts of materials and mediums, and repurposing everyday items into expressions of art and fashion. As a musician, these wonky and not-so-wonky creations often find their way onto stages around Melbourne.
Maddy also enjoys carving and printing lino cuts, paper collage, and combining the two.
