So you want to be 'ethical'... Now what?

"Energetically embrace AI ethics" is a new mantra that Forbes Magazine wants AI startups to embody alongside "fail fast and fail often". But how do you practically do that?  

As entrepreneurs, you're shaping our collective futures through the tech you create. No one actively sets out to build tech that dehumanises or disempowers. But it can and does happen, even with the best of intentions. 

Our dignity is often something hidden from view - hard to define, hard to measure. And yet, dignity is crucial to what it means to be human.  

 This workshop helps unpack what dignity is, what it can look and feel like, and assists you to work out how to actively protect and promote dignity in your teams and in your AI-enabled products. In doing so, you'll discover some practical next steps on your journey to being 'ethical' with dignity in the centre, helping you to 'walk the talk' on putting ethics into practice. 

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is primarily for founders, designers and/or developers in technology startups (particularly those that are developing or using Artificial Intelligence) who want to practically engage with AI ethics.

About the Organisers:

This workshop is organised by Lorenn Ruster, a PhD candidate at the ANU School of Cybernetics. After 10 years in professional services and one failed startup under her belt, Lorenn is now involved in action-based research with a range of AI startups, understanding what it might take to centre dignity in AI development.
