Event description

Whether you're looking for some skin condition relief or you just want a luxurious, moisturising bar of soap. Made with your own secret blend of Essential Oils, Clays and other beneficial ingredients.

Come along and create your very own high-quality natural soap! 

In this hands-on workshop you will explore;

  • A brief history of soap
  • Chemistry of soap making
  • Necessary materials and equipment for cold process soap making
  • Safety - working with sodium hydroxide
  • Choosing Oils for your soap
  • Benefits of adding and how to add ingredients such as Ess. Oils, Creams, Milks, Scrubs, Clays, Herbs, Spices and Botanicals.
  • Colouring soap naturally
  • Preparation of your moulds and moulding options
  • Cutting, curing and storing your finished soap

You will be learning the "cold process" hands-on method

On completion of the workshop, you will take home:

  • Approx. 8 bars of your very own soap
  • Knowledge and skills to create your very own soap recipe variations

Trainer Bio:

This workshop is being presented by Doris Pozzi. Doris lives on a self-sufficient homestead in the Yarra Valley and has been making her own natural soaps for over eleven years. Over this time she has made all her family’s soap plus extra to gift to friends as well as selling her soaps as a 'side-hustle' micro-business. Only natural ingredients, many from her own garden, are used in Doris’ soap.

She is a passionate workshop presenter and has been teaching people the skill of soap-making for over ten years. Doris’ workshops are always high energy and entertaining as well as jam-packed with information. Participants always feel like they receive a great deal of value from these workshops. Doris is well-known for her sustainable living skills especially foraging for edible weeds. She is the author of several books including ‘Edible Weeds and Garden Plants of Melbourne’. Over the years, Doris has appeared on a range of media including Channel 9 News, Studio 10 Breakfast Show, 3AW Gardening Show, 3RRR Dirty Deeds, 3CR, Radio National. Yarra Valley Radio, Gourmet Traveller magazine, Herald-Sun, Jetstar magazine and The Age Epicure.

What to bring

  • Notepad and pen, apron, rubber gloves
  • 2 x clean, 1 litre, square cardboard milk carton or similar Container/ Tupperware (should hold 1.5 - 2 Litres)
  • 25mls Essential Oil or 25mls Essential Oil Blend (not fragrance oil) - optional

What to wear

Casual, clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Closed-toe footwear
