Naida Culshaw is a weaver and community alchemist, university lecturer and Doctorate of Business Administration candidate at Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM) in France. As a scholar practitioner her research explores how the act of restoration/re-story-ation and re/membering Indigenous wisdom traditions informs individual perspectives and choices, organizational governance design, and the development of more holistic approaches to planetary health and justice.

'Re/membering our Rooted Selves: Re/turning to being entrepreneuring'

In the current environment of incertitude and volatility, the types of problems entrepreneurs, in particular socially and ecologically minded entrepreneurs, are looking to address require a different mindset, way of thinking, to approach those problems more holistically.

Social entrepreneurs integrate both a social welfare and commercial logic in their development and implementation of initiatives, often creating contradictory tensions. Exploring more deeply the subject, I wondered if the current approach to entrepreneurial education equally supports the development of both logics within the individual social entrepreneur.

Business design, finance, and stakeholder management are all valid skills to learn.

But where were the discussions around purpose and creating connections to something greater than oneself?

During this session I’ll share my current explorations and emerging insights, offering a space for exchange.
