Social Enterprise Showcase: Smart, Sustainable, Inclusive

The ‘Social Enterprise Showcase: Smart, Sustainable, Inclusive’ event is an opportunity for South Australian (SA) Government public sector staff to learn more about social enterprise and the opportunities for the SA Government to leverage local social enterprises to drive shared objectives in support of the SA Economic Statement released by the SA Premier Peter Malinauskas in March 2023.

Did you know there are an estimated 851 social enterprises in South Australia generating over $1.5bn to our state economy each year and employing 14,590 South Australians? Social enterprises are businesses like any other, but they exist specifically to make the world a better place through enterprising solutions. This includes creating jobs for the most marginalised, providing services for underserved communities or protecting the environment.

Through presentations, Q&A panel, interactive roundtables, networking and a pop-up marketplace, attending this event will:

• Increase your understanding of what social enterprise is (and bust some myths on what it isn’t) by hearing from local sector leaders and social enterprises who are driving positive social, environmental and economic outcomes for our state.
• Increase your understanding of how social enterprise aligns and can be leveraged within your role within SA Government - for example through procurement, grant making, education strategies, policy, human resources, circular economy and sustainability. 
• Enable a deep dive into areas and functions relevant to your role within Government and contribute to roundtable discussions on the opportunities and challenges that you see in working with the SA social enterprise sector.
• Provide networking opportunities to meet SA social enterprises that may be able to support your government function and understand how their innovative business models are driving sustainable social and environmental impact.
• Increase your understanding of how social enterprise can support the SA Economic Statement for a smart, sustainable and inclusive state economy.

The event includes morning tea and lunch provided by local social enterprises.

We welcome attendance from SA Government public sector staff across all departments and agencies, and ministerial staff are also welcome.
