Description

The Social Innovation Lab at Johns Hopkins University invites you to join us in person for our annual accelerator showcase, featuring our cohort of changemakers building ventures to create sustainable change with measurable impact — all while starting right here in Baltimore City.

Event Details:

  • Food & networking starts at 5:30 pm - programming at 6:00 pm

  • SIL Cohort 2025-2026 teams will compete for prizes

  • Opportunity to vote for the Audience Choice Award

  • Networking and delicious cuisine will be served

The Johns Hopkins Social Innovation Lab (SIL) accelerates leaders and ventures building innovative, sustainable, and scalable solutions in Baltimore that work towards a healthy and prosperous world. We aim to see mission-driven ventures from both the Johns Hopkins and Baltimore communities develop into thriving ventures with measurable impacts.

Ventures Participating

  • Mavrik Village - Entry-level, affordable, low-barrier, long-term housing and wraparound services in a homelike environment for formerly incarcerated individuals.

  • I Got Drive - A for-profit driving school and nonprofit foundation that provides driver’s education as a gateway to economic mobility, essential workforce and character development skills that lead to their financial stability and personal well-being.

  • Dari Health - A digital agent that integrates with the hospital record systems to guide patients, especially those facing language and technology barriers, through Medicaid renewals and other Baltimore community resource applications.

  • The Fair Transitions Standards Forum - Equity-centered, science-based frameworks and certifications to help organizations prepare for a just transition toward a decarbonized and inclusive economy.

  • Ovelia Health - A clinically-backed PCOS screening and support app for menstruating women to solve the problem of 70% undiagnosed cases by providing a novel risk percentage calculator and care management tools.

  • HealthLink 360 - A preventive health platform that turns everyday health data into clear, contextualized guidance, routing people to care when needed.

  • Storytime AI - A K-12 reading platform that helps close the literacy gap by empowering educators and students to generate personalized, Science of Reading-aligned content that reflects learners’ identities

  • Crew Call - A storytelling production company that delivers high-quality content while cultivating Baltimore’s existing pool of film and media professionals through a tiered, adult-focused, workforce development model entitled Crew Call.

  • Ari Wellness - A pilates-based movement studio that helps individuals with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) improve strength, proprioception, and quality of life through a specialized movement protocol.

  • Dirtbag Goods - Affordable, home-compostable single-use products—starting with toothpaste tubes made from Baltimore’s food waste—that perform like plastic but break down in backyard bins and gardens within 90 days.

  • Afya Counseling and Wellness - A wellness initiative that integrates mental health, nutrition, and cultural healing by transforming the act of cooking into a therapeutic practice for Baltimore communities facing food insecurity, trauma, and health disparities.

  • Cypher - A 3-in-1 model for holistic, culturally responsive instruction that integrates mindset development, social-emotional learning, and content mastery through the four pillars of hip-hop.

  • Reentragent - An ecosystem that creates meaningful career pathways for returning citizens in environmental sustainability while using an AI-powered reentry case manager to track progress and navigate services.

JHU AFFILIATE SHUTTLE/NIGHT RIDE:

  • To/From Homewood: You can take the Remington Shuttle that picks up/drops off from several locations on the Homewood campus. Then get off at the Pava Center stop right in front of our building.

  • To/from Carey: Take the Homewood—Carey Business School Express Shuttle and get off at the Pava Center stop right in front of our building.

  • After 6 pm? Take a night ride! Order a ride on the TransLoc App or call (410) 516- 8700.


PARKING:

Our building is a large, dark gray and dark blue rectangular building with a large “Pava Marie LaPere Center for Entrepreneurship” sign on the side of it. The parking lot is right across the street in the police parking lot, which is the first right after you turn onto Remington Ave, before the light gray building with the beige stripes. You are welcome to park in this lot as long as you like free of charge.

Street parking is also available, but the lot usually has ample parking. Here is a Google Maps pin to help you find the parking lot's location.


ACCESSIBILITY AND UNLOADING PARKING:

If you require handicapped parking or need to park closer to the building to unload large items, you are welcome to park in the small lot out front of the building (the large dark gray and dark blue rectangular building with a large “Pava Marie LaPere Center for Entrepreneurship” sign on the side of it).

All spaces are available EXCEPT the marked Zip Car space and the spaces reserved for the Baltimore Glass Company.

The entrance is wheelchair accessible, and there is an elevator to the second floor. Feel free to contact us if you need any additional accommodations (PavaCenter@jh.edu or 443-927-3288).
