When emergency food relief can no longer meet the scale, complexity, or dignity required to support households under sustained cost-of-living pressure, social supermarkets are emerging as a practical, place-based response.

Join Sustain: The Australian Food Network, Churchill Fellow Rodney Spinks, and Felicia Bell from Geelong Foodshare for a one-hour webinar exploring the social supermarket model - what it is, how it works in practice, and what lessons from Australia and overseas can inform more effective, dignified approaches to food access.

Drawing on Rodney’s extensive community services experience and his Churchill Fellowship research into international best practice, alongside Felicia’s leadership in regional food relief and redistribution through Geelong Foodshare, this session will examine how social supermarkets sit between emergency food relief and mainstream retail, supporting choice, dignity, and longer-term food security.
