    ABOUT THE BAND:

SOFT SPOT is the instrumental soundtrack celebrating of our favourite people and the fuzzy feelings of jubilation and joy they evoke within us.

After releasing three singles that have highlighted the breadth and originality of their sonic concept- from moody ambient soundscapes to ecstatic post-rock crescendos, all with a unique jazz-tinge- SOFT SPOT are ready to present their first full-length record, a moving musical suite.

Painstakingly recorded and produced over two years, the self-titled debut album presents as a cohesive cinematic journey from start to end, littered with found sounds and kaleidoscopic textures that range from wholly electronic to completely acoustic.

The five-piece group brings together some of Sydney’s most accomplished jazz improvisers with a unified vision to blend their long love of post-rock crescendos and ambient electro-soundscapes with a jazz and improvising sensibility.

The result is not only a genre-bending sound but an unabashedly moving and cinematic listening experience that has conjured the feels and garnered fans at local live shows and globally online alike, and has led to comparisons of other mood-driven instrumental music acts such as Portico Quartet, Slowly Rolling Camera, as well as Nils Frahm and Sigur Ros.

This is music made with their hands on their heart.
