Softly, Softly
Event description
Softly, Softly
Short plays. No frills.
We are here to connect. We are here to thrive. We are here to create.Â
Softly, Softly invites you to gently open up to the humour, warmth, and joy of human connection through the theatre.
Join us for an evening of 3 new short plays from 3 writers, presented on a non-competitive platform for writers to explore what is calling them and for our audience to hear new work from a vibrant, actor-driven company.
Sip on a delicious cocktail, sink into the comfy chairs (get in early to snag a spot) snack on a tasty treat from Paperplate, and indulge yourself in a little theatrical moment or three.

Flamenco Vampires & Outlaw Space Cowboys
Written by Asha Corenelia Cluer
‘To dance is to hunt, to hunt is to survive, to survive is to dance another day. In space. ‘
The Flaming Castanets are the best all-vampire flamenco troupe in a far-flung future where vampires are public enemy number one. Masquerading as humans they dance their way across space.
Put To Sea
Written by Tilly Lunken
‘Mils and Shan, best friends and committed tiktok-ers are in a boat. Out at sea. The real sea, because that is where you find actual authenticity for sea shanties. At sea. All at sea.’
The Names Department
Written by Ellen O’Connor
‘Because it's the colour of... it's the colour of something. The colour makes me feel angry and sad and wistful all at once. Because it's the colour of… I can't put my finger on it.’
Pastry half, Centra and Bee Hall. How does a paint colour get its name? Ms Luscombe attends a focus group at Dulux paint and, when she makes an emotional connection with a shade of yellow, we all get more than we bargained for.
