Event description

Learn how to care for your soil and enhance soil fertility using local materials!   In this class, permaculture educator Marisha Auerbach, will guide you through a basic understanding of soil and how to respond to the limiting factors on your site to adapt your soil for success in the garden. We will cover some simple soil tests that you can do at home to learn about your current conditions, what to expect, and how to respond to the results.

Afterwards, we will discuss and try out strategies for how to use common biological resources to adapt your soil for success in the garden. Strategies will include composting, vermicompost (worm composting), sheet mulching, hugelkultur, and more.

This workshop is associated with the Grow Your Own Produce Workshop series, offered monthly on Zoom. In its 11th year, Marisha Auerbach has been offering support for gardeners throughout the Pacific Northwest to help optimize their efforts to cultivate a year round harvest.
