Soil Health Blitz - Mulloon Catchment
Event description
Mulloon Institute and Soil Land Food event
Looking to build your knowledge and skills around all things soil health?
Want to join a community of keen NRM and soil health professionals?
Get hands-on practice in your soil health monitoring as part of this exciting citizen science project in November 2025.
Mulloon Institute and Soil Land Food have partnered to undertake a major round of soil health monitoring across the Mulloon Rehydration Initiative, our catchment-scale project in the Mulloon catchment near Bungendore, NSW.
We'll be using the Soil HASH Tool developed by Soil Land Food to conduct baseline soil monitoring across the project area. We are seeking volunteers to support our soil health monitoring program as part of a dedicated monitoring team. Join us for one or both days on the beautiful Mulloon Creek and immerse yourself in all things soil health.
Soil HASH stands for Holistic Assessment of Soil Health. This exciting new practical tool has been developed to help you monitor, assess and manage soil health using an integrated, holistic approach.
What to expect: The Mulloon team and David Hardwick of Soil Land Food will lead small teams in establishing soil monitoring sites within the Mulloon catchment, where you'll learn about the range of soil health indicator tests you can use on your property.
The sites includes uneven terrain, so please plan accordingly. If you have mobility concerns, contact us for assistance.
What to bring: Weather-appropriate clothing (hat, rain jacket, coat, gumboots), sunscreen, gloves, water bottle, camp chair and plenty of enthusiasm!
