"Bruce grew up on a dairy farm so farming is in his blood. He trained in soil microbiology with the Soil Foodweb and soil chemistry and plant nutrition with Neal Kinsey from USA and from that developed the Soilsmith nutrient program. This program has been fine tuned over the past 6 years based on soil and plant response.
Bruce supplied us with a fertiliser calculator of his own design, that doesn’t give a man soil, but teaches a man to soil!"

Join Young Farmers Connect and Pocket City Farms, as collectively we work towards building soil health, and a supportive farming community in the Sydney region.

This one-day workshop for market gardeners and small-scale farm businesses is designed to develop your skills and knowledge to assess the soil on your farm, plan your production system to maximise productivity, reduce inputs over time and simultaneously build soil health.

You will grow your knowledge of the fundamentals of how soil and plant function including the chemical, physical and biological properties of fertile soil, how to incorporate soil testing into your production system, how to read and interpret soil and reports, and how to then consider and calculate amendments with follow-up support.

Your trainers for the day will be Bruce Davison and Bernard Davidson from Soilsmith (https://www.soilsmith.ag/). This workshop is tailored to individuals that are involved in the decision-making for a farm business. You will obtain the most value from the course if you are able to bring recent soil tests from your farm to the workshop. If you are a new or aspiring farmer, or currently working on a farm but not in a decision-making role, please come along and we will partner you with a farmer for the workshop so you can benefit from learning the process.

All welcome! Limited places are available so please book early.
