Free Solar Workshop for Homeowners

Price FREE Register

Event description

Curious about solar? Wondering if you can afford it for your house? Want to understand the myths and misinformation you have heard about solar? Come to this solar workshop led by Ruth Amundsen, a local solar advocate, a preview program at Elizabeth River Project's Ryan Resilience Lab on Saturday, May 11th!

Arrive early for an optional tour of the facility at 12:15pm, and the solar workshop will run from 1-2:30pm.

Installing solar on rooftops is an impactful solution that homeowners can take to address climate change because it reduces or eliminates the need to burn fossil fuels like coal, oil, and methane gas to run your home. Burning these fossil fuels emits carbon dioxide which thickens the atmosphere around our planet, trapping heat, and contributing to sea level rise.

Ruth has had solar on her house since 2009, and runs four small businesses that help folks get solar. She owns 16 solar installs, on homes, businesses and non-profits. Ruth will go through the process of getting solar, how easy it is, how it pays for itself, how to get it for free if you qualify under certain income levels, what homes are suitable, and answer any questions you have.

Event is free - donations are always appreciated to support a healthy Elizabeth River. We look forward to seeing you soon!

If you are a business owner interested in installing solar, we'll have a separate workshop tailored to business owners on Wednesday, June 12th at 9:30am.
