Solidarity Film Club #1 Where Olive Trees Weep
Event description
What is Solidarity Film Club
This is the first event of a new film club on Wadawurrung Country. These events will show films relating to the intersections of colonialism, ecology, justice, liberation, capitalism, carceration, and activism. This is a space to learn about these topics collectively; understand our own position in relation to them; think about what we can do to work towards justice and oppose oppression; and to imagine better futures.
These will be semi regular (hopefully once per month) and each event will show a film, after which we will share food and discuss the topics of the film (informally).
The cost of tickets will include dinner and a donation. There will be a 'pay as you can' option to ensure everyone is able to join.
Event #1
The first event will be on the 12th of November, at Grow (Anglesea), showing the film, 'Where Olive Trees Weep'.
Where Olive Trees Weep offers a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. It explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice.
