Wukir Suryadi and Rully Shabara, collectively from the ground-shredding Indonesian duo Senyawa, share with us a glimpse into their expansive and prolific solo works. Undoubtedly alchemical-like as a duo, their solo practices hold ground in two different spheres; Rully Shabara with his voice based, technologically concept driven projects, and Wukir Suryadi’s highly performative projects with an emphasis on tactile instrument building and musical innovation. The work of both artists have roots in tradition and folklore while being positioned in the now and pointing to a future of sonic arts practice.
