Workshop with PCYC
NEEDLE FELTED TOTE BAGS & BAG CHARMS
With Cristina from Solstice Fibre
Victoria Park Community Centre
Friday 2 October
10:30 am–2:30pm
Children will spend the day exploring a range of fibre art techniques while creating and personalising their own tote bag.
The workshop will begin with needle felting onto a canvas tote bag. Students will learn how to work with loose wool fibres and specialised felting needles to create their own designs directly onto the fabric. They can experiment with colours, shapes, patterns and imagery to create a tote that is completely their own.
After a break, students will be introduced to wet felting, using warm water, soap and wool fibres to explore how loose fibres can be transformed and secured into place through soap, water and agitation.
The final part of the workshop will focus on creating needle-felted bag charms and keychains. Students will design and needle-felt their own small creations before attaching them to keychains, ready to attach to their tote bags as a finishing detail.
Session Information
Children are welcome to explore the stations at their own pace, try different crafts, and enjoy a calm, imaginative space to create. Cristina will be there to offer gentle guidance, encouragement and support, especially for those trying a craft for the first time.
