Emmalee and DJ Ritual Beats invite you to our collaboration with Auckland Somatic Dance!

😍Visiting our shores from their current home in Bali, we are thrilled to be hosting trained Somatic Dance DJ and facilitators Rich & Emmalee who are bringing their expertise to our dance floor here in Auckland. They have been travelling around the world, creating trauma-informed spaces for profound inner exploration and expansive movement. Their deep understanding of music, movement, and healing allows them to curate transformative dance experiences that resonate on a visceral level🔥

Somatic Dance is a guided free form movement journey, delving deep into the layers of the body and held in a non-judgemental space where all of you is welcome. No prior dance experience is necessary and all bodies are welcome. There are no routines or steps to follow here, simply an invitation to discover how your body wishes to move. The guided facilitation is supported by a carefully curated soundscape overseen by a DJ. 

This dance is an invitation for you to come and move your body to the unique rhythm of you, supporting a deeper connection with yourself and others.

This is a space free from alcohol, shoes and talking. Let the epic music and guidance of your facilitator carry you out of your mind and into your body, allowing yourself to experience the transformative power of Somatic Dance! The music takes the form of a wave, beginning gently before building to a peak, then settling back down to land softly and slowly.

We recommend wearing clothes you are comfortable moving in (layers are great), bring along a drink bottle and a drop or two of curiosity!

Our dance spaces are designed for adults to create a space where you are able to freely explore and express your authentic self, in whichever shape and form it happens to be expressing itself. As part of this, we request that alternate arrangements are made to care for any children while you attend. If you have a child you would like to bring along, please reach out to us and we can have a chat about whether it is a possibility.

The location is: Mt Eden Village Centre, 449 Mount Eden Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1024

We welcome you at any time from 6.45pm for a 7pm start.

$20-$25 per person; cash on the door or through Humanitix 

We have adopted a two tier ticket option:

$20 supported dancers, we want to continue to make our dances accessible

$25 supporting dancers, for those who feel more abundant and are able to support us

If price is a barrier to attending, please reach out to us and we can work something out, an additional hand with tasks on the day is often appreciated.

Emmalee, Somatic Dance Facilitator

Emmalee is a seasoned yoga educator with over eight years of experience and thousands of classes in New Zealand and Bali. Her passion for movement extends beyond yoga - exploring the freedom of expression through ecstatic dance events. This led her to deep-dive into the more embodied journey of 'Somatic Dance.' facilitating dances in Bali, New Zealand, and the UK.

DJ Ritual Beats; Soundscape Creator

Rich, aka DJ Ritual Beats crafts a finely tuned dance container, blending somatic sounds to harmonize and balance the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of self. His signature 5-rhythm ecstatic wave weaves together an immersive mix of tribal, organica, Afro, and melodic tech house, creating a soundscape that is both evocative and uplifting.
