Somatic Movement for Creative Thinking
4 week series
THU
FLING Studio
11am - 12pm
JULY 24, 31 AUG 7, 14
FLING's Adult Community Engagement Programs are a welcoming space to try something new, or return to your body in movement. Classes are facilitated by FLING's team of professional dance artists and open to all abilities, ages and levels of experience.
Join Creative Director Beth Lane in 'Somatic Movement for Creative Thinking'.
WHAT TO EXPECT?:
'Somatic Movement' is movement that is practiced consciously - a focus on the internal experience rather than the external appearance.
Class will move & dance through a series of guided images, breath and visualisation scores, designed to influence neuromuscular pathways and develop more efficient, balanced movement.
Class will support you to access new movement pathways in a way that is easeful, playful and sustainable for the body and mind.
This class is drawn from Beth's ongoing learnings in Ideokinesis.
WHO IS IT FOR?:
Class is for anyone looking for a moment in their week to find joy in the body and to settle the nervous system.
Anyone curious or new to movement - those recovering from injury or illness
Those with a creative arts practice looking for tools to ground their centre and enliven curiosity for art making.
Those with an admin job who are looking for tools to shift energy!
WHO IS LEADING?
Our Creative Director Beth Lane is a passionate mover, an experienced facilitator, an anatomy nerd and constantly curious about neuromuscular function. Knowledge is power and knowing our bodies can fuel our health, and fuel us into creative, expansive thought.
Catch Beth in this 4 week series before she is on Maternity leave!
WHAT TO WEAR?:
Wear warm layers and comfortable clothing
We aim to work in bare foot or socks. If shoes are required for accessibility, we would prefer soft, white soled sneakers to protect our custom dance floor.
*Class content can be adjusted with support from our team to suit your mobility needs.
If you have any accessibility requirements or previous injuries you would like to discuss before joining us, don't hesitate to get in touch.
*This class is best experienced in a series, however casual attendance is available.
Please Note: This event will go ahead with 7 enrolments to the full series. Bookings will be informed by Tues 22 July.
