Somatic Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra :: Online
Event description
Yoga ~ Embodiment ~ Somatics
Somatic Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra :: Online
This 90-minute immersive online experience will blend somatic self-soothing techniques with Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra as a way to tend to the nervous system.
Somatics is a field within bodywork and movement studies that emphasises internal physical perception and experience. To "feel" the body from within is to offer agency to ourselves in the landscape of our body's tissues.
Yin Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that uses props to support longer holds in seated and laying postures to focus on ligaments and tendons. In Yin Yoga there is an emphasis on stillness and stability, turning the mind inwards, slowing down brain waves and activating the parasympathetic nervous system. Yin Yoga has been shown to support recovery from stress and burnout, depression and anxiety, and improved sleep.
Yoga Nidra is a form of yogic sleep or an in-between state of waking and sleeping. Yoga Nidra offers a guided meditation followed by deep mind-body relaxation and rest.
