Metlifecare Somervale - Sustainability Site Visit
Event description
Join NAWIC & Main contractor, Foster Construction on a site visit of Stage 1 of 6 of the Somervale retirement village, a project targeting a 7 Homestar rating. With a deconstruction phase and a new build, this amenities block will be a new hub for the Somervale village with 30 apartments, a pool, gym, cafe, salon, activities room and more.
DATE & TIME: Wednesday the 17th of April, 2024
MEET AT: Metlifecare Somervale Retirement Village, 33 Gloucester Road, Arataki, Mount Maunganui 3116
COST: $5 for NAWIC members, $10 for non-members
PPE REQUIREMENTS: Hi-Vis vest, hard hat and Steel cap boots

ABOUT THE EVENT:
Built with sustainability at its forefront, this exciting project is a mass timber structure made up of Glulam, Prenail, Trusses and Cross Laminated Timber (CLT).
Hear from some of the team members about the project, managing sustainability and buildability, construction methodologies for mass timber construction and offsite fabricated bathroom pods. Followed by a tour of the building and visuals on what to expect as the finished product.
