Join us from 4.30–6pm on the first Sunday of the month, then apply those vibes at one of Auckland's Sunday socials afterwards. πŸ’ƒπŸ½πŸ•ΊπŸ½

  • Do I need a partner?

No. You can attend on your own. We’ll work with partners in the class and rotate as appropriate to enhance your learning.

  • What level is this masterclass for?

Improver or above Salsa or similar dance experience. Some previous Salsa experience is recommended so you can focus on the Son rhythm, timing and styling. Please contact us if you're unsure.

  • What to wear and bring

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and bring suitable shoes for dancing. A water bottle is also recommended.

  • Is this a Salsa class?

This is a Son Cubano Masterclass rather than a regular Salsa class. It’s a chance to explore one of the important foundations of Salsa and deepen your understanding of Cuban music and movement.

  • What is Son Cubano?

Born in eastern Cuba from a rich meeting of Spanish and African musical traditions, Son developed into one of Cuba’s most influential musical and dance forms. Its syncopated rhythms, layered percussion and distinctive movement helped shape the Salsa tradition we know today. Learning Son is a chance to hear the music differently, understand its rhythms from the inside, and experience the Cuban groove at its source.

  • What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, with comfortable dance shoes or sneakers suitable for the wooden floor.

  • Can I come if I don't know Son Cubano?

Absolutely! No previous Son experience is required. The class is designed to introduce you to the style while building on your existing Salsa experience.
