New Lynn War Memorial Library
Auckland, New Zealand
Description
This interactive workshop introduces the elegant tea culture of China’s Song Dynasty (960–1279), exploring the origins of Dian Cha, the traditional tea-whisking method that later influenced the Japanese Matcha ceremony.
The workshop begins with an introduction to the history and philosophy of Song Dynasty tea culture, followed by a live demonstration of the traditional whisking technique.
Participants will then experience whisking tea themselves using traditional bamboo whisks and tea bowls.
