Songcraft in the Round – Songwriters Series Curated by Alex Radus, featuring Master Songwriter Joe Flood

Songcraft in the Round is a quarterly concert series curated by Lehigh Valley-based singer/songwriter Alex Radus. The Songcraft series introduces the next generation of “must hear” up-and-coming songwriters to Godfrey’s stage. Each concert features Alex and two touring/regional emerging artists, performing their original music in the round and exploring the craft of songwriting. Expect an unforgettable night of compelling story and song, intimate performances, and a backstage pass to the art of songcraft. 

The first 2026 edition of the Songcraft series features Radus in the round with master songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Joe Flood.

Joe Flood is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in New Haven, Connecticut. He has written songs with Levon Helm of the Band, and his songs have been recorded by The Band, The Bottle Rockets, Joan Osborne, and Laura Cantrell, among many others. He has performed and recorded with many of the great names in American roots music, including Blues Traveler (with whom he has a Gold Record), Madeleine Peyroux, Eric Andersen, Rick Danko, Greg Trooper, Happy and Artie Traum, Dr. John – and the list goes on. Joe’s performances draw on his deep repertoire of original songs that speak to the present while aiming for the timeless,

interspersed with stories of his experiences as a busker in the U.S. and abroad, a journeyman songwriter and studio musician, and his scholarship on the history of American folk and popular song. Joe has released several albums of his own material as well as translations of the great French chansonnier Georges Brassens and an album of songs by three 19th-century songwriters from his hometown of Middletown, Connecticut. A new 26 song album is slated for release in June of 2026.

Alex Radus is a Godfrey Daniels “Rosewood Artist, a “versatile crooner” (UMC Nashville) and a “skillful fretman” (Morning call), but his songwriting takes center stage. Known for his signature “genre whiplash,” he blends whimsical and poignant storytelling with an eclectic mix of Americana, swing, blues, and folk. Alex has opened for Livingston Taylor, Richie Havens, Darrell Scott, and Laurie MacAllister, and performed with John Gorka as part of the Razzy Dazzy Spasm Band. Alex was selected as a 2024 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist, earning a “Most Wanted” spot on the 2025 Main Stage. Alex was awarded a youth scholarship to the Augusta Heritage Center, where he honed his distinctive fingerstyle guitar and deep appreciation for traditional music. As John Gorka says, “Alex Radus is a remarkable artist… surely worth going out of your way to hear.”
