Songcraft in the Round – Songwriters Series Curated by Alex Radus, featuring Doug “Ol’Moose” Anderson

Songcraft in the Round is a quarterly concert series curated by Lehigh Valley-based singer/songwriter Alex Radus. Each concert features Alex in the round with regional and touring artists, performing their original music and exploring the craft of songwriting. Expect an unforgettable night of compelling story and song, intimate performances, and a backstage pass to the art of songcraft. 

The July edition of the Songcraft series is a family affair, featuring Alex in the round with one of his earliest influences - his uncle and Godfrey's veteran, Doug "Ol' Moose" Anderson.

Doug Anderson (aka Ol” Moose) has taught philosophy for more than forty years. At the same time he has been playing Americana music in venues around the world, from Rapa Nui and China to Illinois, Washington, Texas, Connecticut, New York, and Iowa. He began playing harmonica at fourteen and guitar at fifteen. In early years he played at small venues in New England, often as a back-up harp player. In college years in Pennsylvania he played in the Razzy Dazzy Spasm band with well-known singer-songwriters John Gorka and Richard Shindell and multi-instrumentalist Russ Rentler. Since then he has played both solo and with a variety of groups, everything from rock n’ roll to quiet folk. He has recorded four albums of his own music and is presently recording another set of songs. His music can be found on Spotify under Ol’ Moose.

Alex Radus is a Godfrey Daniels “Rosewood Artist, a “versatile crooner” (UMC Nashville) and a “skillful fretman” (Morning call), but his songwriting takes center stage. Known for his signature “genre whiplash,” he blends whimsical and poignant storytelling with an eclectic mix of Americana, swing, blues, and folk. Alex has opened for Livingston Taylor, Richie Havens, Darrell Scott, and Laurie MacAllister, and performed with John Gorka as part of the Razzy Dazzy Spasm Band. Alex was selected as a 2024 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist, earning a “Most Wanted” spot on the 2025 Main Stage. Alex was awarded a youth scholarship to the Augusta Heritage Center, where he honed his distinctive fingerstyle guitar and deep appreciation for traditional music.
