The Cecilian Singers - Songs of Women
Event description
The Cecilian Singers next concert explores the songs of women. From marching women and star-gazing girls to weeping mothers, spanning across to the joyous celebration of worship and to Philomela who will not be brought down by lost love. Women’s experiences are myriad. We are aided by women: composers Eleanor Daley and Ethel Smythe and poet Ursula Vaughan Williams. We also feature NZ composers Anthony Ritchie, Chris Adams and David Childs, joined by Poulenc, Morley, Gjeilo, Hatfield, Carter and Pergolesi.
Come and join us as we explore some of these joys and sorrows. We are delighted to be joined by local soprano, Nicola Holt. There will even be an opportunity to join in a festive carol.
