Event description

Hello music lovers of Magnetic Island!
My name is Hester (aka GOLDHEIST!), and I'm excited to be visiting your magical lands for the first time this March. I'm a piano-based singer-songwriter with a deep love for artists such as Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac and Everything But The Girl; I like to think these influences shine through in my own writing! You can have a listen to me on your favourite streaming service (yes, I'm on them alllll), or check out some of my videos on YouTube. I hope you can make it to this Very Special House Concert! I'd love to share my music with you in person...
Looking forward to experiencing your beautiful island soon...

A SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Hailing from the tablelands of northern NSW, GOLDHEIST has released three studio albums of her songwriting, touring extensively across metropolitan, regional and outback Australia, including a concert in the Blanche Cave at Naracoorte (SA) with multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, Andrew Clermont in 2020. She launched her second album REALM at the Sydney Opera House in 2017, which featured award-winning tracks “Wild Things” and “You Were There”. Her most recent album EYES OF LOVE (2022) was born from the ashes of the Australian music industry in the wake of the crippling COVID-19 pandemic. This album explores themes of love and loss, friendship, sisterhood, joy and grief. GOLDHEIST’s songs and stories are a heartbreaking, life-affirming account of recent human experiences, as told by one of Australia’s most incisive storytellers.

“Kate Bush vibes with enormous tranquility and hope buried deep inside...”
- TripleJUnearthed

“Goldheist’s music keeps you on your toes. There are moments where the sounds and themes are so universal and accessible you feel like you’re walking into a familiar, comfortable room. Then there are moments where her delivery is so peculiarly unique that you might feel you’re stepping into a place you’ve never encountered before."
- Josh Cunningham (The Waifs)

"I feel like I just walked through a gallery of amazing impressionist paintings and all the colours attached themselves to me..."
- Scott G (via Facebook)

"Her previous album, Realm (2017), had an electro-pop feel to it, and for Eyes of Love, GOLDHEIST has embraced a more earthly acoustic approach. It gives the songs a beautiful directness and amplifies the emotions. There is a delicacy to the production, where the raw stripped back nature of it allows the intimacy of Hester’s songs to shine through. They are touching, they are tender and utterly heartfelt."
- Bruce Baker (The AU Review)

"[Mister Robinson] is a beautiful song sung by a beautiful singer. Don't let me tell you what it's like...check it out yourself!"
- Shanley Del (via TripleJ Unearthed)
