Songs To The Moon: A Winter Concert

Join Guest Conductor Evan Lawson, Soprano Teresa Ingrilli and Stonnington Symphony for a program of Mendelssohn, Dvorak and Alma Mahler. This program features Alma Mahler’s Stunning Four Songs for Soprano and Orchestra, as well as Dvorak’s sensitively emotive Song to the Moon.
Teresa Ingrilli is an emerging artist with Victorian Opera and an associate artist with Melbourne Opera. She has performed a number of leading operatic roles including; The Countess in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Blanche de la Force in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, Queen Tye in Glass’ Akhnaten and understudied internationally acclaimed soprano Helena Dix in the title role of Melbourne Opera’s production of Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda.
Highlights of her oratorio and concert repertoire include soprano soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass in C (2019), Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 at Hamer Hall (2022) and numerous performances of Handel’s Messiah.
Evan J Lawson is one of Australia’s leading queer artists, working at the forefront of contemporary culture as composer, writer, curator, and conductor, chiefly as artistic director of interdisciplinary company Forest Collective.
Lawson has studied with mentors such as Benjamin Northey, Richard Gill, Kevin March and Johanna Selleck, and internationally with David Aronson and Matthias.
Currently the resident conductor of BK Opera, other acclaimed productions as musical director include Benjamin Britten's Curlew River, Georges Bizet’s Carmen and Claudio Monteverdi’s Coronation of Poppea.
Evan has also worked as guest conductor with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Tonkünstler Orchestra, Moravska Filharmonie, ANAM Orchestra, Performance Space, Ranters Theatre, the Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music and SoundSCAPE New Music Festival.
