Sony - Portrait Workshop
Come and join SONY and Ted’s Camera Stores for an interactive after-dark experience at Lightscape, Melbourne. In this workshop, Sony will teach you how to capture people using available natural light, how to connect with your subject, and composition fundamentals.
This is a great opportunity for photographers to build on the right foundations in outdoor portraiture.
Your ticket to this workshop is INCLUSIVE of your entry to Lightscape. Your ticket will be provided on the day of the workshop
You will learn:
- Tips and tricks to get creative shots
- Understand the fundamentals of low-light photography
- Composition fundamentals
- Hands-on experience with some SONY gear
What to bring:
- Your DSLR or Mirrorless camera (all brands welcome!)
Don't forget to charge your batteries and bring spares just in case
Sony will provide a range of cameras for you to test and try on the day - Memory card so you can keep your photos at the end of the workshop

Event Itinerary:
5:30 pm – Meet your hosts from SONY & TED’S
5:40 pm – 6 pm – Organising SONY Loan Equipment* and Allocating Event Tickets
6 pm – 6:15 pm – Making our way to Lightscape Entrance
6:15 pm – 8:15 pm - Enjoying what Lightscape has to offer. Wander around at your leisure or stay with one of the hosts for a more hands-on experience.
8:15 pm – 8:30 pm – Meet at the Observatory Lodge to return SONY Loan equipment.
About Melbourne Lightscapes:
Held in the Royal Botanic Gardens, immerse yourself in the brightly lit tree canopies, be mesmerised by a six-metre orb made out of thousands of LEDs and wander through the flickering fire garden, colour-changing installations, soundscapes and large-scale illuminated sculptures. Play around with light painting, understand the fundamentals of low-light photography and learn about some amazing tips and tricks to get creative shots.
