Opera Singers Sophie Hamer - Soprano and James Pinneri - Baritone return home to Perth, and would love to invite you to an evening of operatic and music theatre delights.
Sophie and James are both recent graduates of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and have both received amazing opportunities this year to further their training and artistic development. They would love to share an insight to what they have been working on this year with their community of family and friends.
Sophie Hamer is the 2025 recipient of The Amelia Joscelyne Memorial Scholarship with Melba Opera Trust. Sophie has spent the year travelling between Perth, Melbourne and Sydney to continue her artistic development journey, under the guidance of renowned Australian Repetiteur and Vocal Coach, Sharolyn Kimmorley AM. Sophie had the privilege of working with many extraordinary mentors such as Stuart Maunder AM, Johannes Fritzsch, Yvonne Kenny AM, and Erin Helyard, and has performed in concerts in Melbourne, Sydney, and Ballarat, alongside her fellow 2025 Melba Artists.
James Pinneri is the 2025 recipient of The Loz Copley Scholarship with Pacific Opera Studio, and relocated to Sydney to commence his year of role study and performance. This year, James has performed the roles of Papageno (The Magic Flute, Mozart) and Manoah (Samson, Handel), featured as Marcello (La Bohème, Puccini) and Publio (La Clemenza di Tito, Mozart) in Opera Scenes, performed in Masterclass with Paul Dyer AO and Anne-Maree McDonald, as well as performed in several concerts alongside his fellow 2025 Young Artists.
Sophie and James will be joined by Guest Artists Charis Postmus - Soprano and Noah Humich - Tenor, and Associate Artist Joshua Haines, for this recital.

The recital will run for approximately 75 minutes without an interval.
