This year there will be two venues - A Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country will take place at 10.30am at the Stolen Generations Memorial (on the South-East Corner of Hill and Wittenoom Streets, East Perth). Following that we will move to the Health Department Theatrette, which is part of the H&C Cafe Building on the North-West Corner of Hill and Wittenoom Streets, East Perth.
BTHWA & YOKAI will be showcasing The Missions Connect Virtual Reality Tools, which have been developed in partnership with Curtin University. This Stolen Generations VR Educational, Professional Development and Healing Tool has been developed to promote truth-telling and reconciliation within Western Australia. The Tools engage individuals with the history and continuing impacts of the Stolen Generations through immersive 3D mission environments, Survivor testimonies, historical imagery, and guided self-reflection.
This project was initiated and led in partnership by Bringing Them Home WA (BTHWA/Yokai) and the Stolen Generations Immersive Hub (SGIH) at Curtin University, with support from Lotterywest and the Healing Foundation over a three-year development period.
