Sorry Day Flowers
Description
Reconciliation is an ongoing process. Get involved and create Sorry Day Flowers.
The session is run by Fiona Sinclair from Southern Forest Arts. She will give guidance on how to make the flowers using templates provided by SW Aboriginal Women's Collective.
This will be a free session, no experience required, all abilities and ages welcome.
Basic materials will be supplied, and some basic equipment (eg scissors, glue, thread).
Participants are also encouraged to contribute. They can bring fabric, felt, buttons, wool, sequins, glitter, paints, stencils, stickers, cardboard etc. Please bring your own scissors, glue, needle and thread if you can.
The flowers can be made from anything. Ideally recycled materials as we'd like the project to have minimal environmental impact.
The session provides an opportunity to pause, to acknowledge the suffering of the Stolen Generations and their descendants and to create shared hope for a brighter future.
