Insight & Soul-Work Retreat: Opening to the Imaginal
Overview
This retreat is an introduction to soul-work for people who already have a meditation background. Soul-work is a set of understandings and practices that are oriented to becoming less bound up in a world of flat materiality and more open to a range of felt experiences which can include: sense of meaning, a calling, a sense of reverence, soulfulness itself, sacredness, unfathomability, senses of love and multi-dimensionality.
A Soul-work retreat like this provides a space to engage with images or figures or gods that could be seen as having an imaginal existence, rather than a physical existence. This work has secular foundations: there’s no set belief system. It provides guidance on what is helpful and what to watch out for in developing sensitivity and discernment.
A big influence in this form of meditation practice are the extensive teachings of English meditation teacher Rob Burbea on Soul-Making Dharma.
The retreat will be in silence apart from necessary communication, small groups meetings, one to one meetings with one of the teachers, and Q&A periods.
Dharma Teacher

Victor Von der Heyde
Victor has been practising meditation for thirty five years. He's spent over two years in total in silent retreats and has taken dharma teaching roles since the mid 1990s. He was co-founder of Sydney Insight Meditators and of the Bodhgaya Development Association. He also trained in Gestalt Therapy and worked for years as a counsellor. He writes: These days my passions in teaching and practice include exploring environmental ethics - how we treat animals, how we respond to climate breakdown - and the ways that we get often stuck with particular concepts of self and world. And stuck with particular meditation practices. My intention is to open up freeing and soulful possibilities for people. https://www.dharma.org.au/v/
