Panel and masterclass

// 6pm: Artist Management panel with Montaigne, Si Jay Gould and Katie Rynne, hosted by Oli Goeldner
// 7.30pm: Masterclass on how to pitch yourself with Rob Carroll

So you want a manager? Come along to find the secret sauce - what is it that managers are looking for in an artist? What can you do to get yourself ready for a manager? And how do you find the right one for you?

From 6pm, join our panel to get answers to these questions and more:

  • ARIA Award-winning artist Montaigne, one of Australia’s most dynamic performers and a global success. They have collaborated with the likes of Talking Heads visionary David Byrne, TikTok sensation Tom Cardy and renowned dance producer Ninajirachi
  • Artist manager, label owner and festival curator Si Jay Gould (Wondercore Island, Hiatus Kaiyote, Jaala, Mo Ju, Sampa The Great, Oh Mercy, Strawberry Fields, VIVID Sydney, Melbourne International Jazz Festival)
  • Booking agent extraordinaire Katie Rynne, currently head of country and Americana music bookers Wheelhouse Agency, Senior Agent at Select Music (Wafia, Drapht, Mama Kin Spender) and BIGSOUND Music Co-Programmer. Earlier in her career she worked in tour and artist management for artists including Lior and Passenger (UK).

This panel will be hosted by Oli Goeldner, journalist with Newcastle Weekly, co-writer for Meet Music Magazine and co-host of Newcastle Music Show.

From 7.30pm, join Good Intent Managing Director Rob Carroll for a masterclass in pitching. Get practical guidance on how you can pitch yourself effectively to managers, as well as agents, labels and venues. Rob has worked in the Australian music industry for 20 years in everything from artist management to venue and festival bookings. As a publicist, Rob has worked with the likes of Yungblud (UK), Ocean Alley, Lime Cordiale, Dune Rats, LUUDE, Trophy Eyes, Escape the Fate (USA), Newton Faulkner (UK), Dappled Cities, Washington, Jinja Safari, Astral People, Handsome Tours, TMRW Music, BMG, Sony, Warner, EMI and Universal.

This is also a great chance to meet MusicNSW local Coordinator Maeve Grant and share how MusicNSW can support you and music in Newcastle more broadly.
