Event description

This retreat is held at the beautiful historic Dorje Ling Buddhist Retreat Centre near the village of Lorinna, surrounded by forest in the central north of Tasmania: https://www.tashicholing.net/d...

In 2023, Sound & Silence will be in it's seventh year. It has become something of a beloved tradition, often drawing repeat participants who cherish this special time and place.

The program includes sound meditation (Nada Yoga), mouna (mindful silence); mantra, classical yogic asana and pranayama; yoga dance, ritual, deep relaxation with music; voice-work & sharing simple lovely songs. These songs are developed into group harmony singing, providing uplifting vibrational 'sound-bath' experiences ... this becomes the favourite aspect of Sound & Silence for many people.

Each day, the times of 'mindful silence', sometimes with the group, sometimes alone, allow special opportunities for us to self-reflect, rest, connect, expand our inner vision.

The practices are developed over the 4-day retreat, freeing us energetically, opening our voices and hearts, enhancing our innate connection to the earth, our natural joy of life, our connection to Self and to Spirit.

Immersion in nature is a vital part of this retreat experience, close kinship with the trees, becoming more and more sensitised to the spiritual ambience of this remote and special place.

The food is plentiful, fresh, simple yet delicious vegetarian cuisine. The menu is basically vegan and gluten-free, with optional extras such as yoghurt, cheese, egg, and gluten bread. The kitchen goddesses (Jera and Shanti) love nourishing the retreat participants with their colourful creations. There will be a range of black, green and herbal teas, with a choice of dairy milk or soymilk, plus honey. If you would like coffee, sugar, extra snacks, or gluten-free bread (there will be gluten-free corn-thins), please bring your own supplies. If you have any other food sensitivities or special requirements, please let us know, as we do our best to cater for all requirements.

Accommodation varies from single rooms within the original house, to gorgeous rustic huts scattered in the forest, to recently-built single rooms and 'pods' in the open areas near the house. The bathrooms are shared. Some people like to bring their camper-van. Participant numbers limited, private accommodation available for all, unless twin-share or double is preferred.
