This recital is presented as part of the Hanson Dyer Hall Concert Series. All concerts in this series can also be streamed live via our website.

This program brings together works written for saxophone and piano alongside arrangements of music originally written for other instruments. Spanning French, Spanish, German, and Australian repertoire, the saxophone moves between lyrical, rhythmic, and virtuosic roles in close dialogue with the piano.

From the evocative imagery of Tableaux de Provence by the female composer Paule Maurice, to the folkloric character of de Falla, the lyricism of Schumann, and the tightly structured rhythmic drive of Melbourne Sonata, these works explore how melody and texture can evoke place, colour, and atmosphere.

Antoine & Yiyun present a program shaped by contrast, highlighting the shared role of saxophone and piano in shaping each musical landscape.

PARKING

The City of Melbourne has recently changed the parking restrictions around the Southbank Campus. Parking control hours are now expanded to 7am–10pm, seven days per week, and are capped at three hours. A $2-per-hour fee after 7pm is also now in place. There is no change to the $4-per-hour peak rate between 7am–7pm. Parking inspectors are regularly in the area fining drivers who overstay their meter, so we encourage everyone to be aware and avoid an expensive fine.
