Learn how to make delicious sourdough breads easily from your home kitchen:

This is a comprehensive workshop on learning the ins and outs of sourdough baking.
Kym has tailored this workshop so sourdough baking can be accessible to everyone and can be easily made at home using common appliances.
You will also leave with a sourdough starter, recipes and the knowledge learnt from the day to start or build onto your sourdough journey.

$15 per person +booking fee includes sourdough starter to take home as well as all of the below:


Sourdough bread making level 1: From starter to Loaf
What you will learn:
- The process from start to finish on baking your own sourdough bread loaves.
- Ingredients and components of sourdough bread making
- Variations in flour blends, where to source good flour.
- How to bake your sourdough in a home kitchen and baking equipment
- Tasting sourdough bread
- How to feed/care for your sourdough starter
- Q&A
- Bread related Dad Jokes

Please bring a large glass jar or container to take your sourdough starter home in.

Suitable for ages 12 years and up. This is a 2 hour workshop with time for tastings and questions at the end. Handouts will be provided.

Please note: There is not access to an oven onsite so this is a theoretical but interactive workshop with sourdough starters provided as well as handouts to be able to bake your own loaf at home. Kym will have freshly baked loaves as examples on the day.

About your host:
Kym Ormond is a community educator, permaculturist and trained chef who teaches skills in food preservation, sourdough bread baking, permaculture gardening and music. Kym's goal is to share forgotten skills that he's learnt over the years and return them from "Uncommon sense" to common sense life skills.

Kym started off his career in commercial kitchens before eventually finding his feet in the soil and transitioned over to working on commercial farms, permaculture food growing projects and owning his own plant nursery. Kym has combined his love of growing food and cooking together into a series of sustainable living courses that are interactive, fun and informative.
