South East Queensland Food Systems Strategy Forum
Event description
The SEQ Food Systems Strategy
By 2046, Southeast Queensland (SEQ) is projected to be home to 6 million people. Feeding this growing population presents complex challenges from climate variability and extreme weather to hosting global events and welcoming millions of visitors each year.
CSIRO, the Council of Mayors of South East Queensland, local governments, the Food Connect Foundation, the Food & Agribusiness Network, government agencies, university researchers and community groups are collaborating to co-create the SEQ Food Systems Strategy. This strategy will be guided by evidence-based goals and actions to build a resilient, productive, and sustainable food system that supports SEQ’s economic and social prosperity.
Over the next six months, we’ll work together to define these goals and actions, and we invite you to join us in this important process.
What to Expect
The forum will facilitate conversations about how local voices and community interests can be accounted for in creating a SEQ Food Strategy. This event will also support discussions about the ways that diverse organisations from producers to consumers can communicate their aspirations and preferences for a sustainable food system.
The forum welcomes representatives of local farmers, food producers, organisations and businesses who live and work in South East Queensland region.
There is little you need to prepare in advance of the workshop. We are interested in your experiences and opinions, and if you are interested in attending, please read the full participant information sheet and media release.
