Description

After many years of enlightening CPD events in Ōtautahi, our Ōtepoti colleagues have lured us down south for a springtime hui.

We will gather for lunch on Wednesday 16th September, at the Elim Church on Harrow St. We'll start with whakawhanaungatanga and time for general discussion. Our first formal sessions will be run by some of our most experienced facilitators, focusing on the ways in which our practise has changed over time. They will also lead a conversation on what the senior facilitators might wish they had known at the beginning of their RJ journey, and how the newer facilitators might benefit from their experience.

Thursday will begin with a presentation from Ōtepoti police, looking at digital harm and the new stalking legislation. The rest of the day will be devoted to an exploration of trauma informed practise and the facilitation skills required to de-escalate difficult situations. This session will be led by Duncan Forster from Simply Resolution.

On the morning of Friday the 18th, we will be joined by a presenter from Life Matters for a discussion on handling disclosures of suicidal ideation. This session will be followed by a look at what happens outside the face to face meetings of a restorative process and we will finish our work together at lunchtime. As usual, we will actively create a warm collegial environment, encouraging dialogue and the free exchange of ideas and experiences.
