Summer Institute in Statistical Genomics

The Summer Institute in Statistical Genomics is open to people from any country who wish to learn about statistical and quantitative genetics from leading researchers. This includes students, post-docs, industry and government employees, teachers, policy makers, and others.

All modules for the Institute will be held in seminar rooms in the central Waipapa Taumata Rau – University of Auckland City Campus, and instruction is in-person only.

You may choose just one, or up to four, modules; most participants choose two or three. You can pick and choose any combination on different days when you apply, and in most cases will be assigned to your first preferences (depending on availability: most classes are capped at 40).

Modules last 2.5 days, starting on Monday morning and ending Wednesday lunchtime, or from Wednesday afternoon through Friday. Each module runs as 10x 90 minute sessions, generally alternating lectures and practical exercises.

Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided at morning and afternoon tea each day. For lunch, participants can self-cater or purchase from food vendors on and near the University campus.

Participants are responsible for organising their own visa where necessary. Please contact both Institute Coordinators Prof Bruce Weir and Assoc Prof Anna Santure if a letter of invitation is required in support of your application for a visa to travel to New Zealand.

We acknowledge generous support from Genomics Aotearoa that has allowed us to offer student scholarships for 21 New Zealand postgraduate students to attend 40 Modules at the Institute. Applications are closed at this time.
