Space Between Words - Opening Event - Installation Exhibition by Michelle O'Hara
Event description
This mixed media exhibition is a result of Michelle’s 10 month artist residency at The Churn Room in our beautiful small village of Dayboro.
The exhibition highlights the connections Michelle made through gentle observations of other artists that have crossed her path during the residency, retailers in the community, the quiet conversations that members of the Dayboro community have shared with her, and the space itself, which was once the Dayboro Butter Factory.
It is the story of nature and how everything returns to the earth eventually, regardless of careful preservation.
All works are based on Michelle’s love of nature. Locally found seed pods, foraged leaves and tree bark, various weeds and flowers which line the footpaths of Dayboro village, are to be highlighted on vintage pianola rolls through a series of intimate drawings.
Fabrics, thread and ceramics dyed with local leaves, small lino prints on traditional handmade Japanese paper and found feathers, cyanotype capturing foraged weeds and borrowed flowers, mixed media artworks and small artist books in vintage containers from the era of when the Dayboro Butter Factory was built.
This site specific installation exhibition, is a reflection of Dayboro itself and is a must see.
