Abstract:
High-profile IT outages, like the CrowdStrike incident or the accidental wiping of the complete Google cloud service of UniSuper, are a stark reminder that cybersecurity is not just about malicious threat actors, but also about issues arising from human errors with no failsafe.
This presentation explores how proven space engineering practices can be utilised for more cyber resilient architectures. This field is renowned for its rigorous redundancy strategies, and we are going to explore how they can be adapted to fortify our security frameworks against innocuous threats.
Attendees will gain insights into how these space engineering principles and others from the wider field of engineering can be translated into practical strategies for building threat-resilient security architectures.

Andreas Dannert
Andreas is currently responsible for cybersecurity delivery to Financial Services organisations in South-East Asia at Accenture. Prior to this he was a Principal Enterprise Security Architect at Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) in Singapore. At SCB he was responsible for building the groups Security Architecture function including delivering the organization’s Security Architecture Framework, providing input into the Strategy, and relevant Security Capabilities. Before this he was a Principal Enterprise Security Architect at Australia’s national broadband network (nbn), which is a government owned enterprise, providing critical infrastructure services to millions of Australians. At nbn Andreas was responsible for defining nbn’s Security Strategy and technology roadmap across the organisation.
