This SPARK Webinar brings together experts to share the findings from the latest releases of ANROWS’s National Community Attitudes towards Violence against Women Survey (NCAS) and the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Personal Safety Survey (PSS). We will also be joined by primary prevention practitioner discussing how new knowledge impacts practice.

This webinar will be streamed live and includes a Q&A session. A recording will also be made available.

About the facilitators

Dr Nicole Weeks

Dr Nicole Weeks has been working on the NCAS Research Program at ANROWS for almost two years as Senior Research Officer and recently as Manager.

Nicole is a research and evaluation psychologist and has research experience in a variety of fields, including women’s safety, parenting, childcare, family resilience, motivation, decision-making and defence. Nicole also has some experience running community interventions. Nicole wants to make the world a better place and is passionate about reimagining a world of equality and respect.

Kristin Diemer

Kristin Diemer is an associate professor at the University of Melbourne. Kristin co-leads the kNOwVAWdata global course for training and capacity building on measurement of VAW.

Kristin has published four volumes of the first ever multi-indicator administrative data trend analysis. She has also worked on Victorian law reform commissions to remove the homicide defense of provocation, improve prosecution of sexual offences and reform domestic and family violence laws. Gender equality and accountability for men who use violence are the principles at the centre of her research program. Kristin has extensive experience leading multi-national, multidisciplinary research teams and is a global leader in applied research and knowledge exchange for policy and practice implementation. Kristin holds a range of national and international expert advisory roles. These include roles on the expert advisory panels for the National Community Attitudes towards Violence against Women Survey (NCAS) (since 2014) and the Australian Bureau of Statistics – Personal Safety Survey (PSS) (since 2013).

Sophie M – Men and Co

Sophie M (MSW, BA Psych/Crim) is an accredited Safe and Together trainer with nine years of child protection experience in Queensland, working across the continuum of practice.

She is a social worker who has supported the DFV High Risk Team in Logan/Beenleigh as the representative for Child Safety and Coordinator. She has experience across multiple DFV regional services in their outreach response, educating primary health care, facilitating behaviour change programs and in crisis intervention with survivors and their children. Recently she has stepped into the Men and Co Services Team Leader position overseeing the service’s behaviour change, court support and HARNESS programs.
