Welcome to SpeakEasy Poetry, a soft & powerful monthly poetry open mic in Meanjin/Magdanjin.
in the secret upstairs loft studio of local venue echo & bounce, SpeakEasy Poetry's 'Studio Sessions' is an intimate reimagining, and a return home to your community of wordsmiths & wonderers.

Parking : The venue unfortunately has no reliable free parking. There are two paid parking complexes next to the venue. They are accessible via Allen Street & Water Street respectively.
The Studio: The Studio is on the Loft Level (Level 2) of echo & bounce. If entering the venue from Stanley Street, head on out to the back courtyard, which looks out to Jacob Lane, and up the tall flight of stairs on the back of the building to the upstairs balcony. Pop through the door on the left and follow the sounds of voices down the corridor around to the second loft space!
Confused? Say hello to the bar staff inside, who will be able to direct you easily up to the studio.
accessibility: studio is up a flight of stairs, & is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. bathrooms are on ground level.

HOW IT WORKS
Wanting to perform?
- poets can sign on in advance of the event via the SpeakEasy Poetry Instagram, or via Humanitix email contact, to participate in the open mic.
- open mic signup on the night begins from 6pm, with the first half of open mic poets on from 7pm or so
Wanting to witness/watch/cheer your friend on?
- please do! sharing poetry/your bare heart is a scary thing! they love you for being there.
Timeline
1. Doors : 6pm
studio upstairs open for ticketing & dinner. anyone wishing to eat prior to the event please arrive early to dine in the cafe downstairs. the option is also available to pre-order your dinner to be ready for the break at 8pm.
2. Event Start : 7pm
first half of open mic poets & feature poet set
2. Event Break : 8pm - 8:30pm
anyone who pre-ordered food, collect from kitchen for dining in cafe downstairs.
3. Event Second Half : 8:30 - 9:30pm

*please keep in mind that we are unable to eat in the studio upstairs, to save the legs & plates of the venue staff, as well as minimise interruption for our performers during the event.
