Tory Whanau became the first Māori mayor of Wellington in 2022. She was elected without any previous council experience on a platform of change with housing affordability, climate change, and infrastructure renewal as top priorities. Mayor Whanau is a strong advocate for greater representation of Māori culture and perspectives in local government decision-making processes., and her commitment to building a more inclusive and sustainable future for the people of Wellington is unwavering.
NZ Women in Medicine is looking forward to hosting Mayor Whanau - and for the chance for a rich and insightful kōrero with our members.
