Event description

For adults and young people 16+

What is a comic? It’s not just a picture with a speech bubble!

Join the dynamic, award-winning cartoonist and comics creator Aśka for an engaging exploration of graphic novels and the art of visual storytelling. Discover the science behind how comics work, how they are redefining modern narratives, and the creative process behind their making.

You’ll also have the chance to take part in a mini-workshop, where you can experience the magic of comics firsthand by creating one of your own. No drawing skills required—just bring your curiosity!

Light refreshments will be provided and attendees can purchase copies of Aśka's books on the night.

Featured book: Stars in Their Eyes

Stars in Their Eyes is a Graphic Novel by author Jessica Walton and comic-maker Aśka. Recently recognised as a 2024 Stonewall Honour Book, selected in the ALA Rainbow Booklist 2024 and the CCBC Notables List

You can borrow a physical copy of Stars in Their Eyes here or download the eBook on Libby today!
