“I’m so excited about our Life Drawing session with ArtFarm! We’ll celebrate the magic of drawing a REAL 3D person in REAL time - starting with exercises using line, shapes, forms & contours, lights & darks. Our model will move dynamically through a series of short poses and then, after lunch, we’ll move into longer poses that evoke stories & share our experiences.

You’ll notice a renewed engagement with the multi-sensory magic of seeing & drawing. Life Drawing is like yoga for artists because it’s so visceral, so multi sensory, enticing us to really look at another person in real time - in a consensual way. Being present in present time - listening to our thoughts… then returning to the marks we’re making on the paper in front of us. We empathise with poses, with pauses, dynamic or restful because we also share this human-ness. These exercises will feed to your broader creative practice.

This is your own adventure in a welcoming space - whether you’re an absolute beginner, a regular drawer or emerging from a hiatus and keen to see what creative adventures await. All materials are provided but feel free to bring your faves.”

About Speaking Place:

On the inspiring grounds of Piccolo Family Farm, a series of arts workshops and seminars are facilitated by skilled professional makers and artists across various unique creative disciplines. The workshops will centre around the concept of Place, and how makers and creatives evoke and communicate Place through their craft. Throughout the day, facilitators and participants have the opportunity to gather with the other participants, fostering creative networking and the exchange of ideas and thoughtful conversation.

Speaking Place was founded to provide access to world-class artistic skills for regional audiences. It also has a strong focus on ongoing impact, encouraging further creative collaboration and artistic exploration beyond the Speaking Place weekend.

‘Place’ is a generous topic of exploration. It gives artists and audiences an infinite world of discussion and discovery of how their craft ‘speaks place’ and opens them up to a journey of creative understanding and collaboration.

The Regional Arts Fund is an Australian Government initiative that supports sustainable cultural development in regional, remote and very remote Australia.

The project was made possible by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund, provided through Regional Arts Australia and Regional Arts NSW.
