Description
In the lead up to January 26, learn how our community can have engaging conversations about First Nations justice and continue your truth-telling journey.
‘SPEAKINGTRUTH Town Hall’ is a free community event at Ashfield Town Hall, facilitating First Nations-led truth-telling for multicultural and multilingual communities.
Work at your own pace through screen-printing, zine and poster-making stations - using translations for “We all live on Aboriginal land” in Arabic, Cantonese, Italian, Mandarin and Vietnamese.
Soak up truth-telling during the “Speaking Up 4 Mob Justice” panel or learn the short but complex story of the public holiday with “JAN26: A history yarn”.
Join the conversation in our Im(Perfect) Translation roundtable and guide future multilingual resources for your community.
There is something for everyone in this space, which is safe and welcoming for our diverse communities during an important national conversation.

This is a free event, our optional $10 ticket secures a goodie bag and 50% donation to Common Ground.
Common Ground is an independent First Nations storytelling collective. Their projects centre First Nations storytellers in innovative ways, bringing knowledge into digital spaces. SPEAKINGTRUTH was supported to launch through their “Weaving Truths” educational resource.
