Join this insightful guided tour of Maestri: Influences from Italy to Australia with two of the key contributors to the exhibition: Federica De Rosa and Luigi Barletta.
Professor Barletta will host a viewing of the short film he directed, which explores Antonio Dattilo-Rubbo’s education at the Naples Academy of Fine Arts, his influences Domenico Morrelli, Filippo Palizzi and Stanislao Lista, and 19th-century Naples, highlighting the ideas that shaped his life as an artist, teacher and advocate for Australian art.
Professor De Rosa will talk about the works in the exhibition and the ideas she discusses in her exhibition catalogue essay. Federica De Rosa is a professor of Art History and Head of Cultural Heritage at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where she is responsible for the preservation and promotion of the institution’s artistic and historical heritage.
