Special Olympics Melbourne Inner East (MIE) Athletics – 2026/2027 Season

Athletics is back at Tom Kelly Athletics Track, Rieschiecks Reserve, 125a George Street, Doncaster East VIC 3109!

When: Sundays, 9:30 am – 11:00 am

New participants welcome!

Want to give athletics a go? New participants are invited to attend their first two sessions free before registering.

Registration fee: $150 for Term 4, 2026 and Term 1, 2027.

As part of the registration process, participants will need to complete a Special Olympics Medical Form. The medical assessment may be covered by Medicare, depending on the services provided and individual eligibility.

Important: Please check the Athletics Calendar before attending, as some Saturdays are reserved for competitions. We are unable to accommodate new Come & Try participants on these dates.

The Special Olympics Melbourne Inner East (MIE) club is based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and is run by volunteers. Operating for over 45 years, MIE was a founding club for establishing Special Olympics in Australia and currently has the largest membership nationally.

Special Olympics provides weekly grassroots sporting, recreational and social activities, and prepares athletes for competition pathways ranging from club events to regional, state and national games, culminating in the Special Olympics World Games. Our club runs year-round sports training, coaching and competition for over 200 registered athletes with intellectual disabilities, helping them to lead a full and rich life. The sporting opportunities delivered for our athletes, via dedicated volunteers, are athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling (tenpin), cricket, equestrian, football (soccer), golf, gymnastics, swimming, tennis and wintersports (alpine skiing and snowboarding).
